Afzan (or Baban) was diagnosed with Bipolar II disorder in 2019. Through therapy, she discovered that she has been living with symptoms of bipolar almost her entire life and didn’t even know about it. Since her diagnosis, Afzan has been sharing her experience managing her condition and living a relatively ‘normal’ life with her social media handle, Babanology, on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. She started her advocacy to raise awareness on the importance of mental health, encourage people to seek professional help as soon as possible, and show people that life is possible even with a mental condition.

In June 2021, Afzan became a Certified Mental Health First Aider and joined Yayasan ZuriatCARE as the Head of CAMELLIA (Campaign for Mental Illness Inclusivity & Awareness).
